Koh Samui is located in the National Park of Mu Ko Ang Thong (the “islands of the golden bowl”) within an archipelago of hundreds of small islands and islets. Only six are inhabited, including Koh Phangan which is also very touristic, and located only a short distance further north. Koh Samui has a rather circular and compact form. Its centre, covered with mountains and jungle, some rising to over 650 meters. The plains are connected by a single road that basically follows the coast. Each major beach has created a community that bears its own name.

On Koh Samui you can find what you expect from a beautiful tropical island: a turquoise sea at a pleasant temperature and pristine sandy beaches lined with coconut palms. Ideal to deliver yourself to relaxation or to practice any diving-related sport. It also offers the possibility for some onshore exploration activities with its wildlife parks and Buddhist temples. But do not forget Wat Plai Laem, where a remarkable statue of Kwan Yin stands, the goddess of mercy with her 18 arms, neighbouring the huge Buddha. Even more unusual, the lessons to mineral anatomy that are Hin Ta and Hin Yai (“Grandfather and Grandmother rock”), two rocks that represent the male and female body parts.
