Koh Chang (“Elephant Island”) is part of the Mu Ko Chang National Park which covers an archipelago of 52 islands, of which it is the largest. In a context of steep mountains covered with jungle, its west coast generously offers the trinity of tropical islands: beautiful white sandy beaches, palm trees, and warm blue waters. The island as a whole offers a rich green flora, wildlife and sea creatures. From north to south Koh Chang, the beaches are generally more secluded and thus also less crowded. There is also a nice little fishing port which you can visit.Besides swimming and basking in the sun, the island offers many inland activities, including hiking in tropical forests, or jungle safaris on the back of an elephant …

DISCOVER AN ISLAND GENEROUS WITH NATURAL BEAUTIES

Of course you first have amazing beaches that allow you to admire beautiful sunsets. They often have nice names like Chai Chet or Klong Prao. And if you feel like it, why not visit the fishing village of Bang Bao at the southern tip of the island. But do not limit yourself to the sea, because the presence of impressive mountains also means waterfalls such as Klong Plu or Than Mayom, and many others. As you venture inland, make a detour to Ban Kwan Chang, an elephant sanctuary where you can even swim with these amazing animals.

ONE OF THE BEST KEPT MANGROVES OF THAILAND

DISCOVER THE FOREST AT THE FOOT OF KOH CHANG

The eastern part of Koh Chang, which is the furthest away from the mountain, is more rustic; offering charm and calmness. Take the road to the fishing village of Baan Salak Phet. Two kilometers north of it, another curiosity awaits you: the Khiri Phet waterfall. Composed of twelve successive falls, its summit offers a magnificent view of the bay. Finally, on the east coast, the bay of Salak Khok, which is about 1 km wide and 2 km long, is connected to the sea by a narrow channel. It houses a collection of islands covered with mangroves. Mangroves among the best preserved of Thailand. You can discover them freely by kayak or by boat with a local villager. The sleepy fishing village of Baan Salak Khok, located at the southern end of the bay, is built to a large extent, on piles driven into the bay and most homes are connected to one another by small wooden bridges.
