Lanna with its hilly landscape and the proximity of Burma has always been a place of immigration for the hill tribes. This trek brings you to the Karen. A day of walking across a dense forest brings you to their village where you will be able to share and learn about their way of living. On your way you will see the Royal Project associated to the village. After a night with them, on your way back, you will cross again the beautiful tropical forest before reaching a beautiful waterfall. Later on you will enjoy the fun of a raft on the Wang River. The final stop will be to allow to visit a beautiful market.
Your guide will meet you at your hotel. Your adventure begins with the hill tribes. Your first stop will be at a beautiful typical Thai local market of the north where your guide will do the shopping for the days ahead and explain some of the local specialties that are sold there. Then you will be taken to the starting point of the hike. Today you will walk mostly to higher ground. You will follow a large mountain path along a clear stream, until you reach a waterfall for a break. You stay long enough to enjoy a swim in the cool water, while your guide prepares lunch. Afterwards, you will continue the highest hike in the mountains, to a first Karen village. You will stop there, allowing some interaction and conversation with the locals, and, why not, to admire the many pigs … Then, ready yourself to attack the final stage of the walk to the Karen village where you spend the night. Along the way you will reach the Royal Project associated to the village. Your guide will explain this interesting agricultural project. Then the last part of your hike takes you through a dense forest. On arrival in the Karen village where you spend the night, your guide will introduce you to your host for the night. Here you can relax and explore the village. You are invited to help with cooking. After dinner, you can learn some basics of the Karen language with your host. You will sleep in a house in the village.
Waking up with the roosters! Your guide prepares a hearty breakfast. After breakfast, you start your return to the modern world. You will pass through rice fields and a beautiful tropical forest before reaching a beautiful waterfall where you will spend some time relaxing, swimming and enjoying the natural surroundings. Then, after a short hike, you will find a trekking truck parked along the road. This vehicle brings you to the place where you will enjoy your lunch. After lunch, you are on your way to a small rafting camp. Bamboo rafts will be waiting there. Enjoy the fun of this exciting journey of about three quarters of an hour raft on the Wang River. Then the trekking truck will take you back to Chiang Mai. Along the way, you will stop at a beautiful market.
