A COUNTRY WITH A FABULOUS PAST, A LUSH NATURE, FANTASTIC PEOPLE
BOOK THIS DESTINATION AND DISCOVER CAMBODIA
To say that the Cambodian equation equals Angkor, one of the greatest civilizations of Southeast Asia, would be incomplete. This would be overlooking the impenetrable jungles, other abandoned temples covered by years and years of vegetation, the sometimes huge lakes, the splendid white sandy beaches bordering the Gulf of Siam and the smiling locals, although they recently came back from decades of suffering and massacres. At the heart of the Indochinese peninsula, located between Thailand, Laos and Vietnam, Cambodia has its central part shaped by the Mekong.
This is a slightly hilly alluvial plain enclosed by mountain ranges. Half the country is covered by rain forest. Because of the legacy of post-colonial wars, civil war and the Khmer Rouge regime that followed, it is one of the poorest countries of the peninsula. Like its neighbors, it is a country of monsoon and during the rainy season, the fertilizing flood of the Mekong river discharges into the Tonle Sap (Great Lake).
